Mission Statement: To support persons with autism in the areas of supported living, supported employment, recreation. and leisure.

A Place of Our Own is a non-profit program of the Christian Institute of Human Relations. The 5-bedroom house on Perry Lane in Edinboro has received a grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development to provide monthly rent for one year starting on August 1, 2007. This house will be used to provide respite care as well as recreational and leisure activities to people with autism.

Currently, A Place of Our Own supports individuals wanting to gain employment experience at the Gertrude Barber Center in Girard, PA, as well as providing YMCA memberships for recreation and leisure activities.

A Place of Our Own is in need of:

  • dishes
  • pots and pans
  • games and puzzles
  • washing machine
  • DVD Player
